About DB Equine Therapy

Hi, my name is Debbie and I am an accredited Equine Massage Therapist with over 30 years’ experience and a member of the IAAMB/ACWT.

I am certified with a Rural Skills Certificate and have been around horses my whole life since the age of 5. I’m incredibly passionate and have a strong understanding of the biomechanics of all horses.

Having backed and trained many different types of horses over the years, I have a passion for learning and improving my understanding of equine behaviour and the biomechanics of horse and rider.

I use the dressage rider training as my fitness workout and use the TRT Method on the horses. I have found that the world renowned American horse trainer Monty Roberts has changed our understanding of the horse, and we never stop learning from them.

Having grown up having fun at the local shows doing gymkhana and jumping, I affiliated to British Dressage 2013 and are at Advanced Medium on my Welsh sec D.

Contact me today if you have any questions. I cover a 50-mile radius of Spalding including South Holland

Relief for your horse

Myofascial Release Therapy

I use myofascial release therapy, which is used to soothe and treat myofascial pain and discomfort. This is a constant massage used to release tightness as well as pain throughout your horse’s tissue. If you have any questions about this therapy, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Low Level Laser Phototherapy/Ultrasound Therapy

Laser and ultrasound therapy works by using LEDs to improve tissue repair, ease inflammation and reduce pain. This technology has been used for years and is a proven method of easing the discomfort of your horses

Case Studies

Nicola’s Story

Having known Nicola for many years, to see her achieve what she has with her Dales ponies makes my job a good one. I have been treating her mare Izzy and Ray.

Rays treatment
Palpation: No stress points found, C1 ,C2 tight on left and right side and subclavian junction tight on left, lumbar ok right intercostals tight reactive, glutes, hams ok.
Treatment: Working the whole neck area to warm up the muscles then working on poll the right tighter than the left, C1, C3 yawning on release, L & R splenius into SVC released the right being harder to release. SVT Left ok right tight then working the longissimus Dorsi ok no issues, Lumbar good working into Gluteals all release and DVL checked right reactive to hip flex. Pec, obliques tested and Lateral and spiral lines tested and worked on. Stretches on all 4 legs happy with postural stance so all lines tested. Follow up treatment in 3 months as work load increases.

After treatment, Ray and Nicola headed to the Search For A Star Final and the results were amazing, they won the Ridden Championship, Supreme Ridden Championship and Reserve Supreme Championship which qualified them for the Horse of the Year Show.

National Racing Museum

Thanks to Sue Molloy at the National Racing Museum in Newmarket. I worked on the ex race horses that come to the centre for re-schooling, holidays, rest. Giving them a dynamic assessment to get a picture of their range of movement and any particular problems with access to their full history of previous work and any previous injuries. Palpating to pick up any problem areas, then working through the whole body doing massage and myofascial release. When this happens you get a sigh from the horse and a yawn. All this improves Lymphatic drainage and circulation, improving the posture which reduces the risk of injury.

Testimonials

I have an ex-race horse that has had many issues which actually related to myofascial tension. Working together with Debbie, we have been able to improve/relieve the issues. Thank you DB Equine Therapy

Karen Wells from South Lincs

Having had treatments on my horse and Debbie doing follow-up treatments, she sorted him out and is very good at her job and resolved the problems. I would highly recommend her for any problems you have. Thank you Debbie
